Special attacks: double attack (1)
In chess, you only get to play one piece on the same turn. But sometimes it is possible to make a move that gives the other player two problems at once. An example is the double attack: one piece attacks two enemy pieces at the same time. Your opponent can only defend one. And you can capture the other piece. The double attack is an important chess tactic and it is very common.
Always ask yourself these questions:
- Can I spot any loose pieces?
- How can I attack two loose pieces at the same time?
What do you have to do?
Win material by placing a double attack. At first, there are only a few pieces on the board. This makes it easy to understand how a double attack works. Then, the exercises become more difficult. Like in a real game, there are more pieces on the board.
